Are you an early riser? Our mothers (May and I's) always told us to drink something warm first thing in the morning. In fact, they always told us to drink less cold water!
According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, drinking hot or warm water kick-starts your digestive system. It is believed that by warming your body, it increases your body temperature and aids your blood circulation.
Since having given up occasional coffee for the past 6 months, I've made it a habit to switch up how I have my morning matcha. Usually it's with a latte, or sometimes a tea, or with collagen. The other thing I've been getting to is different tonics using Apple Cider Vinegar. My mum always harped on about how good vinegar is for you and your skin and according to Traditional Chinese Medicine, vinegar is used to help your liver in detoxification and invigorates the blood. If you haven't come across Apple Cider Vinegar, it contains a cloudy mass which is called "The mother" - this is the beneficial bacteria that is a by product from the fermentation process.
Here's a recipe I love to drink in my mornings:
INGREDIENTS
1 tsp Thea matcha
1 tsp manuka honey
Juice of 1/2 lemon
1 tsp organic apple cider vinegar
250ml hot water
DIRECTIONS
In your mug, add matcha, honey, lemon and apple cider vinegar together. Pour hot water (not boiling!) and mix well. If you have a whisk, use that to mix well.
